Mill Basin Early Childhood Center

In September of 1994, Mill Basin Early Childhood Center, located on Avenue U and East 68th Street in Brooklyn started as a 1 room Early Intervention Program for autistic children. Due to the high demand for our services, we quickly expanded. Today, our school includes the following quality programming:

• Early Intervention, for children ages 18 months through 3 years old. There are 2 sessions per day to meet the needs of both the child and the family.
• Universal Pre-Kindergarten for 4 year old children in Public School District 22. This program prepares children to enter and succeed in Kindergarten by using a hands-on curriculum that is fully aligned with the New York City, Department of Education's Learning Standards. For children who do not reside in District 22, we offer the same classrooms for private pay.
• Special Education classrooms for Preschool children. These include a TEACCH classroom for autistic children, classrooms for children with developmental delays and an Inclusion classroom for children transitioning into typical kindergartens.
• An Early Intervention and Preschool Evaluation Team.

Our classrooms are fully equipped with learning centers, including a computer, a library and arts center in each classroom. There is one New York State Certified Teacher and at least one certified Teacher Assistant in each classroom; some classes have more Teacher Assistants depending on the needs of the children. Our staff includes licensed Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapists as well as a certified Child Psychologist. We have both indoor and outdoor gyms to encourage optimal physical growth — and of course, to have fun!

We are dedicated to delivering the highest quality services to the children entrusted to us. Our caring staff sees children as part of a family who are part of a larger community — we are also a part of that community. This small gem of a school in Brooklyn is open Monday through Friday, all year round — following the New York City, Department of Education school schedule.
